we are the lonely people
always looking down
searching on the ether
for what in the real world...can't be found
we like to give an appearance
that we're normal

but behind the stone walls we hide
a fortune in pain

the ice and snowy weather
wintertime is closing in
soon it will be Christmas
i can hear the ringing bells begin

ringing sounds of glory
ring the song of the Christmas story
they ring for you and me

it looks just like Serbian snow
but it's miles away you know
from my Serbian home

this place has a similar look
but it comes from an alien book
it's not like my home

i miss the people who i know so well

i have a problem with doubt
i'm doubting me
don't know what i'm all about

Crazy Dream Wedding

i went to sleep this afternoon
dog tired and full of my lunch
the fever took hold
and took me right under
and there i was dressed to the nines
there was a wedding in progress
the reception was right after that
when i saw the scene
if you know what i mean
i wouldn't want to do it like that

i had a crazy dream about a wedding
that nearly destroyed a luxury hotel
there was a door that went to nowhere
but down you would fall like a well
children threw tantrums at parents
who gave them whatever they wanted
people were dazed by the music
the song would play on and on

they had a big stone for bowling
aimed it at a big palm tree
it went down a big ramp
and then the tree went over
the press had a field day with that
there was a din of news helicopters
trying to get a good shot of the tree
yeah i saw it all
the palm tree did fall
then i saw it again on TV

i had a crazy dream about a wedding
that nearly destroyed a luxury hotel
there was a door that went to nowhere
but down if you would fall like a well
children threw tantrums at parents
who gave them whatever they wanted
people were dazed by the music
the song would play on and on

I was trying to reconstruct a crazy dream i had this afternoon after i ate too much Bratwurst.

The King of Nothing

it's no longer a mystery...i found out today
i'm less than nothing...and that's how it will stay
look up and look over me...while i look down
you wear a smile...but i see a frown

and if there were to be a king
of this realm i know...if i know a thing
i should be the one at the the top
the top of the bottom is where the buck stops
and i'll be the king of nothing

so put on your dress clothes...and smile a fake smile
for those at the bottom...who are too tired to try
they'll never know it...you know that it's true
they don't aspire...to be someone like you

and if there were to be a king

Cigarette Smoke

you wake to cigarette smoke and whiskey vapors
you grab a cup of coffee...time to read the paper
the paper's late...so you go on-line again
nothing is real 'cause it's all a game
play it over and over...still it ends the same
the news is out...no one's gonna win

we have our trials
we have our doubts
we want it all
we do without
we cry to heaven
we want to try again

but it's the same old thing on a brand new day

joy would be an empty thing...without the corresponding pain
if there were to be no darkness...how could we see the light?
